James Snapko intended to make a modern-day western. Now that "Further North" is near completion, Snapko doesn't exactly know how to categorize it. "What I do know," Snapko wrote in his director's statement, "is that it's a film that took on a life and energy of its own, and that it moves me in a way I cannot adequately articulate here." It is a story about murder and five people's relation to it in northern Minnesota. The people are perpetrators, victims, conspirators, avengers and bystanders -- each sharing a unique perspective. The film is Snapko's second feature, and a sneak preview will be shown at the latest Fearless Filmmakers event. A Q&A session with the cast and crew will follow the 95-minute screening, followed by a party with free food and drink and live music by Jindra.
