Although it's not always easy, many choreographers and filmmakers have found ways to transfer, translate and transform the kinetic experience from stage to screen. This month Cinema Revolution Society celebrates such cross-discipline innovation with a Minnesota Dance Film Festival. The eight-day event is packed with viewing opportunities, starting with the Twin Cities Dance Film Retrospective Saturday and Sunday. This is an excellent guide to the many local artists who have experimented with dance on film, including Shawn McConneloug and Greg Cummins, Emily Johnson and Randy Kramer, and The BodyCartography Project. Next Monday and Tuesday, the legendary German choreographer Pina Bausch (who died in 2009) will be remembered with two films about her groundbreaking career. And finally, on Dec. 17-18, catch 25 premieres in two different programs from the Dance Film Project, featuring Sally Rousse, Zhauna Franks, Mad King Thomas, Kaleena Miller and many more. (Retrospective: 7:30 p.m. Sat. & 2 p.m. Sun., with preshow artist talk at 6:30 p.m. Sat. $8, Minneapolis College of Art and Design, 2501 Stevens Av. S., Mpls.; Bausch: 7 p.m. Mon.-Tue., $8, MCAD; Dance Film Project: Program 1 at 7 p.m. and Program 2 at 9 p.m., Dec. 17-18. $10 for one program/$15 for both. Southern Theater, 1420 Washington Av.
