SPECIAL FISH

Adam Schneck, 13, of Minnetonka, caught and released this largemouth bass on Lake Minnewashta recently while fishing with his grandfather, Stew Peterson, and a cousin. The photo has special meaning now: Peterson, 72, of Excelsior, died of a heart attack days later. “This was his last fishing outing,” said Adam’s dad, Jay Schneck. “His love in life was teaching people and his family to fish.”

HEAVY FISH, LIGHT LINE

Gail Gregory of Coon Rapids caught this nice largemouth bass on Deep Portage Lake near Backus. She only had on 2-pound test line, so it took her about 15 minutes to land it. After a quick picture, it was returned to the water.
