If you go

The nearly 5,000-acre Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area, a unit of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in Ironton, contains six natural lakes and 15 deep lakes in former mine pits. It offers camping, hiking, swimming, fishing and paddling in addition to mountain biking. Mountain bike trails range from beginner to advanced. The headquarters is outside the park, in the town of Ironton (307 3rd St., next to the Ironton City Hall and Fire Department). Don't strap the bikes onto your car to head to Cuyuna just yet. The mountain bike trails are currently closed amid wet conditions.
