One of the most surreal experiences we've had for a while came while driving into the office. Our route takes us right past the normally poofy Metrodome. This morning, of course, the building looked dramatically different (shown, right). As we wrote today -- and plenty of people have also noted -- the metaphorical became literal with these 2010 Vikings when the roof actually caved in.

But now we have to wonder: what really happens next? Some guesses:

*The Vikings will not play inside the Metrodome on Mall of America Field next Monday, either. That's the final scheduled home game of the season vs. the Bears. Rather than rush through a repair in the midst of all this awful weather, the team would be well-advised to come up with a Plan B and stick to it since the game is seven days out. First choice, in our mind, would be TCF Bank stadium if it can be de-winterized in time. Second choice would be Detroit again. But seriously, would you have confidence in the Dome right now? We sure wouldn't.

*The conspiracy theorists will get louder once the stadium rhetoric heats up. There are already a few folks out there beating the drum that the Dome collapse was more than an act of Mother Nature -- rather, that it was a human-aided effort led by those with a vested interest in getting a new stadium built.

*Regardless, this will create some stadium momentum. For better or worse, how can it not?
