STAR TRIBUNE'S THREE STARS

1. Travis Hamonic, Islanders: Defenseman had a team-high 23:16 of ice time, including 5:06 on a 7-for-7 penalty kill, as well as an assist, four shots, two hits and three blocked shots.

2. Al Montoya, Islanders: Made 10 of his 20 saves in the second period.

3. Colton Gillies, Wild: Played a hard-nosed, physical game and spent most his shifts in the offensive zone.

BY THE NUMBERS

1 Point for rookie Brett Bulmer (assist), his first in the NHL.

14 Shots by the Islanders, fewest allowed by the Wild in a road game. The record had been 15 in a 2-0 loss at St. Louis in 2003.
