Miami Marlins All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto was at the hospital Monday night awaiting the birth of his first child and already celebrating thanks to a big hit by his backup.

Bryan Holaday singled home a run with one out in the 10th inning for his first career walkoff hit as the Marlins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3.

Holaday received a congratulatory text message from Realmuto after the game.

"He said, 'No baby yet,' " Holaday said. "Maybe that put his wife into labor, watching that game."

Holaday came in batting .165 but was in the lineup because Miami put Realmuto on the paternity list before the game.

In the 10th, Miguel Rojas was hit by a Corey Knebel pitch with one out, Cameron Maybin walked, and both advanced on a double steal. Holaday then bounced a grounder up the middle against a drawn-in infield, and the team with the NL's worst record beat the team with its best.

"When they stole second and third, that takes a lot of the pressure off me," Holaday said.

Jesus Aguilar gave his All-Star candidacy a boost by hitting his NL-leading 23rd homer for Milwaukee. Miami countered with homers by Starlin Castro and Brian Anderson on consecutive pitches off Josh Hader in the seventh. Castro's homer at the end of an 11-pitch at-bat made it 2-2, and Anderson put Miami ahead by hitting a pitch off the sculpture in center field.

Hader had given up only two homers this season.

New York 4-1, Philadelphia 3-3:

Aaron Nola gave up one hit in seven shutout innings to become the NL's first 12-game winner, and he also lashed a three-run double that sent the Phillies past the host Mets 3-1 for a split of their doubleheader.

In the opener, Wilmer Flores hit a pinch-hit home run in the 10th to give New York a 4-3 walkoff victory.

Los Angeles 8, San Diego 2: Clayton Kershaw pitched six shutout innings, and Cody Bellinger and Justin Turner each had three hits as the Dodgers beat the host Padres.

San Francisco 2, Chicago 1 (11): Pablo Sandoval lined a bases-loaded single in the 11th inning to send the Giants to a walkoff victory over the Cubs.

Pittsburgh 6, Washington 3: Gregory Polanco drove in four runs in the first two innings for the host Pirates in their victory over the Nationals.

American League

Baltimore 5-2, New York 4-10:

Brett Gardner had four hits, homered and drove in three runs to help the Yankees beat the host Orioles for a doubleheader split.

In Game 1, Danny Valencia ended an 0-for-25 skid with a three-run homer off CC Sabathia as Baltimore won 5-4.

Tampa Bay 10, Detroit 9 (10): Daniel Robertson hit an RBI single to score Kevin Kiermaier in the 10th inning and the host Rays beat the Tigers, who have lost 16 of 20.

Oakland 2, Houston 0: Frankie Montas and two relievers combined for a five-hitter, Stephen Piscotty homered in the seventh inning and hit an RBI single in the eighth and the Athletics beat the host Astros.

Boston 5, Texas 0: J.D. Martinez hit his major league-best 28th home run, Steve Pearce added a two-run shot and the host Red Sox earned their seventh consecutive victory.

Interleague

Cincinnati 7, Cleveland 5: Anthony DeSclafani pitched seven strong innings, Scott Schebler was 4-for-5 with a homer and the host Reds held on to send the Indians to their third consecutive loss.

Notes

• Giants catcher Buster Posey will miss the All-Star Game because of a lingering right hip issue that needs an injection to calm the inflammation.

• Mets third baseman Todd Frazier is on the 10-day disabled list because of a strained muscle in his left rib cage.

• The Dodgers put right fielder Yasiel Puig on the 10-day DL because of a right oblique sprain.
