The tropics section of the Minnesota Zoo has new tenants. "Faces of the African Forest," a new permanent exhibit, features fruit bats, African cichlids, dwarf crocodiles, red river hogs and De Brazza's monkeys. Kids can sit under a giant fig tree. A glass ceiling allows them to see the crocs and fish as they swim about. Opening weekend activities include performances by the Hayor Bibimma African Dance Company, face-painting, scavenger hunt and zookeeper talks.
