OUT LOUD

“You get scared. You don’t want to go back out there, especially when you’re all wet because they threw a bucket on you.”

— Astros 2B Jose Altuve, who was doused with Gatorade before a video review had confirmed his walk-off homer against the Red Sox on Thursday.

GAME OF NUMBERS

14: Times the Padres have been shut out, the most in the majors.

17-28: White Sox’s record vs. AL Central teams.

7: Number of the 14 homers given up by the Royals’ Chris Young that have come with two strikes.

NEW CONTENDER

Steve Cishek, Pitcher, St. Louis

The reliever, who had lost his job as Miami’s closer in May, was traded to the Cardinals for a minor leaguer Friday. With a $6.65 million salary this season, Cishek, 29, was deemed too expensive to retain outside of the closer role into 2016, when he becomes eligible for salary arbitration. The Cardinals will pick up the remainder of his salary.
