OUT LOUD

“That was outstanding. You worry about the baby, of course. But he looked like he had it under control.”

— Cubs manager Joe Maddon on the foul pop that a Wrigley Field fan caught Tuesday night while holding his 7-month-old son.

GAME OF NUMBERS

28: Consecutive home games in which Cleveland’s Jason Kipnis has at least one hit — the longest streak for an Indians player since 1980. Kipnis has hit in 19 consecutive games overall.

0: RBI for the Phillies’ Maikel Franco on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. On Monday and Tuesday Franco became the first Phillies hitter to knock in five runs in consecutive games since RBI became an official statistic in 1920.
