OUT LOUD

“We are responsive and open to change if we get a result that is not consistent with the goals of the system that is in place.”

— MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred on the criticism of the Royals’ surge in All-Star Game voting.

GAME OF NUMBERS

4: Rookies who have tossed at least seven scoreless innings in their MLB debuts in 2015. It’s the most in a year since 1914.

.213: ERA of the Nationals starters since June 12 after posting .277 up until then.

16: Three-hit games for the Marlins’ Dee Gordon in 71 games, the most in that span since Darin Erstad had 16 in 2000.

ARMED AND READY

Ivan Nova, RHP, N.Y. Yankees

The 28-year-old will be activated from the disabled list to start Wednesday’s home game vs. the Phillies, which will be his first start in almost 14 months since having Tommy John surgery. In four starts last season, Nova posted a 2-2 record with 12 strikeouts and an 8.27 ERA in 20⅔ innings.
