Greg Allen needed just two games in his latest tour with the Cleveland Indians to make a huge impact.

Recalled from Class AAA Columbus on Saturday for the third time this season, Allen homered and tripled among his career-high four hits and made a circus catch behind Trevor Bauer, who pitched seven solid innings, as the Indians remained baseball's hottest team with an 11-1 rout of the host Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

"It wasn't too bad," said Allen, who made a leaping backhand catch of Jose Iglesias' drive to the warning track in left-center field before bouncing into a bullpen fence in the second inning. "It was nice to get a win."

Said manager Terry Francona: "Boy, did he impact the game. A great catch, four hits — it's nice for the whole organization."

Jake Bauers hit a two-run homer and Tyler Naquin and Jason Kipnis added solo shots, helping Cleveland to a season-high sixth consecutive victory. In the process, the Indians have cut their deficit in the AL Central from nine games to 5½ behind the Twins, who visit Progressive Field for three games following the All-Star break.

The Indians' tied their single-game season highs with 18 hits and nine extra-base hits while completing a two-game sweep in which they outscored the Reds by a combined score of 18-3.

Bauer (8-6) improved to 4-0 with a 2.90 ERA over his past six starts. He gave up one hit through the first four innings before Jose Peraza singled to lead off the fifth and scored on Josh VanMeter's pinch-hit double. Bauer bounced back to slip called third strikes past the potential tying runs, Joey Votto and Eugenio Suarez.

Chicago White Sox 3, Chicago Cubs 1: Ivan Nova pitched shutout ball into the sixth inning for his first home victory in eight tries, Eloy Jimenez and Jose Abreu homered and the White Sox beat the crosstown Cubs.

Washington 5, Kansas City 2: Anthony Rendon doubled in the tiebreaking run in the eighth inning, Brian Dozier and Victor Robles homered, and the host Nationals won for the 10th time in 12 games, beating the Royals.

American League

Tampa Bay 2, New York 1: All-Star Charlie Morton struck out 10 in 5⅔ innings to help the host Rays earn a split of a four-game series with the AL East-leading Yankees. Morton (10-2) gave up one run, five hits and one walk in lowering his AL-best ERA to 2.32.

Boston 6, Detroit 3: David Price pitched one-run ball over five innings, Christian Vazquez and Xander Bogaerts each drove in two runs and the Red Sox completed a sweep of the host Tigers, who fell to 6-25 since June 1.

Oakland 7, Seattle 4: Matt Olson hit a home run to lead a five-run first inning and the Athletics powered past the host Mariners for their seventh victory in nine games.

Toronto 6, Baltimore 1: Trent Thornton pitched six shutout innings as the host Blue Jays beat the Orioles.

National League

Philadelphia 8, New York 3: Aaron Nola held the host Mets hitless into the sixth inning and Jay Bruce homered twice for the Phillies. New York rookie Pete Alonso hit his 30th home run to break up Nola's no-hit bid. The feuding NL East rivals kept their cool, a day after a tense game in which Jake Arrieta hit Todd Frazier and later said if the Mets veteran was still upset, "he can come see me and I'll put a dent in his skull."

Arizona 5, Colorado 3: Alex Young tossed six no-hit innings in his second career start, Eduardo Escobar had three RBI and the host Diamondbacks completed a three-game sweep of the Rockies. Young, 23, was replaced to open the seventh inning after 71 pitches.

Pittsburgh 6, Milwaukee 5: Red-hot rookie Bryan Reynolds hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the host Pirates over the Brewers. Reynolds' seventh homer of the season came after Kevin Kramer walked and Adam Frazier singled off Junior Guerra.

San Diego 5, Los Angeles 3: Fernando Tatis Jr. homered twice and had four RBI and Manuel Margot also homered as the Padres rolled into the All-Star break after handing the Dodgers their first three-game losing streak at home this season.

Atlanta 4, Miami 3: Josh Donaldson capped his strong first-half finish by hitting a two-run homer and the host Braves escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to beat the Marlins for the 10th time in 12 meetings this season.

San Francisco 1, St. Louis 0: Evan Longoria homered with one out in the seventh inning to break up Jack Flaherty's bid for a no-hitter, and the host Giants held on vs. the Cardinals. Jeff Samardzija gave up four hits in seven innings.
