Chris Davis definitely kept the souvenir ball from this most elusive hit.

Davis ended his record slump at 0-for-54 and drew applause from rival fans at Fenway Park, lining a single and two doubles while driving in four runs as the Baltimore Orioles beat the host Boston Red Sox 9-5 Saturday to stop a four-game losing streak.

"That's a long time without getting a hit," Davis said. "I don't know what I'm going to do with it, but obviously something special."

Davis, 33, broke into a smile when his bases-loaded, two-run single in the first inning broke the drought.

"It meant a lot to me," he said.

He tried to make the most of his terrible stretch. "I said it a couple of weeks ago: 'You have to embrace it at some point,' " he said.

Davis walked to the plate against Rick Porcello in the first inning to what mostly appeared to be mock cheers when he was announced. But many of those quickly changed when Davis hit a liner over the head of second baseman Dustin Pedroia, ending the longest hitless streak ever by a position player. It was his first hit since last Sept. 14.

Once he safely reached first, Davis tipped his cap to the Orioles dugout and many of his teammates raised their arms and hollered in support. He smiled and made a motion that he wanted to ball, which he got.

Davis, a two-time major league home run champion, had been 0-for-33 this season.

Houston 3, Seattle 1: Jose Altuve homered for the fifth consecutive game, Justin Verlander struck out eight of the first 10 batters he faced and the Astros won their eighth in a row, handing the host Mariners their first back-to-back losses of 2019.

Kansas City 3, Cleveland 0: Homer Bailey pitched seven innings of two-hit ball and the host Royals beat the Indians for the second night in a row. Ian Kennedy and Wily Peralta completed the two-hitter.

Toronto 3, Tampa Bay 1: Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a two-run double in the seventh inning to help the host Blue Jays overcome Blake Snell's no-hit bid for the Rays.

National League

Milwaukee 4, Los Angeles 1: Mike Moustakas and Orlando Arcia homered and the Brewers handed the host Dodgers to their sixth consecutive loss. Los Angeles didn't have a hit after Alex Verdugo's leadoff single in the fifth inning, as Milwaukee pitchers retired the final 14 batters in Game 2 of this series, a rematch of last year's NLCS.

Cincinnati 5, St. Louis 2: Derek Dietrich hit a tiebreaking homer off Adam Wainwright in the seventh inning and added a two-run triple as the Reds beat the Cardinals in the first game of a two-game series in Monterrey, Mexico.

San Francisco 5, Colorado 2: Madison Bumgarner pitched into the eighth inning to rest a weary bullpen and the host Giants handed the Rockies their eighth loss in a row. This game started about 12 hours after San Francisco outlasted Colorado 3-2 in 18 innings in a game that ended shortly before 1 a.m.

Atlanta 11, New York 7: Freddie Freeman hit a go-ahead RBI single in the second inning, Ronald Acuna Jr. had his fifth consecutive multihit game and the host Braves beat the Mets. Touki Toussaint, recalled earlier in the day, earned the victory with six strong innings of relief.

San Diego 5, Arizona 4: Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run homer and Franmil Reyes had a tiebreaking solo shot as the NL West-leading Padres won their fourth in a row, beating the host Diamondbacks.

Miami 10, Philadelphia 3: Austin Dean hit his first big-league homer and had four hits and five RBI to help the host Marlins break a five-game losing streak by beating the Phillies.

Washington 3, Pittsburgh 2: Adam Eaton and Howie Kendrick homered on consecutive pitches in the eighth inning as the host Nationals rallied past the Pirates.

Interleague

L.A. Angels 6, Chicago Cubs 5: Zack Cozart broke out of a slump with three hits and Cody Allen wiggled out of a jam in the ninth inning, helping the Angels top the host Cubs for their seventh victory in eight games.
