Mike Zimmer did not sound happy with his starters on Sunday night.
First-team offense: ``We started out the game with two negative plays and it kind of kept going from there.''
The 46-yard touchdown catch by the 49ers' Marquise Goodwin: ``We didn't cover the guy.''
The first-team offensive line: ``I thought it was sporadic tonight.''
The effort shown by the backups during the comeback: ``I would hope that we would do that.''
Zimmer can be grumpy. And sometimes he can be grumpy for all of the right reasons.
As I said in my column, it's always dangerous to interpret preseason performances. But it wasn't difficult to interpret Zimmer's mood late Sunday night.
