January 24, 2018 at 6:31AM

MANKATO – Parker Tuomie's goal, with 2 minutes, 36 seconds left in the second period, was the only one scored in Minnesota State Mankato's 1-0 victory over Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday night in a nonconference men's hockey game between nationally ranked teams.

Tuomie, a sophomore forward and native of Germany, has seven goals this season, two of them game-winners.

Connor LaCouvee of the No. 7 Mavericks (19-7) needed to make only 15 saves for the shutout. Hunter Shepard had 23 stops for No. 9 UMD (13-10-3).

This was the third consecutive victory for MSU Mankato and the sixth in the past seven games. The Bulldogs had a seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1) end.
