Minnesota Scene: Saints sign U outfielder, but get shut out by Sioux City

The St. Paul Saints, who lost 6-0 at Sioux City on Friday, have signed outfielder Andy Henkemeyer, a former Gopher. Henkemeyer, of Sauk Rapids, Minn., hit .308 as a senior this past college season.

• The Gophers are picked to finish second in the Big Ten coaches' preseason volleyball poll, behind defending champion Penn State. Middle blocker Tori Dixon and outside hitter Ashley Wittman, both seniors, were named to the preseason All-Big Ten team.

• More than 1,100 runners have registered for the fourth Fifteen's 5K, hosted by Twins pitcher Glen Perkins (No. 15) and his wife, Alisha. It will start at 8 a.m. Sunday near Gold Medal Park and end at Target Field. Money raised will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
