The No. 4 Gophers volleyball team defeated Louisville 20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 on Saturday to finish 2-0 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in Madison, Wis.

Stephanie Samedy, a 6-2 freshman, led the Gophers with 17 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore Alexis Hart added 15 kills and 6-5 redshirt freshman Regan Pittman had 10.
The Gophers, who swept North Carolina in their opener by holding them to a .009 hitting percentage, limited the Cardinals to .143 while hitting .261 themselves. The Gophers outblocked Louisville 8-6.
Next weekend Minnesota will host the Diet Coke Classic, facing West Virginia on Friday in its home opener and Texas-San Antonio on Saturday.
Two tied for U.S. Senior Amateur lead
Matthew Sughrue of Arlington, Va., and David Brown of Ligonier, Pa., tied for the first round lead in the U.S. Senior Amateur at the Minikahda Club with 4-under 68s. Sughrue was the tournament runner-up a year ago.
They were two shots ahead of Tim Jackson of Memphis, alone in third. Jeff Teal of Excelsior had the best score of the five Minnesotans in the field; he was tied for 55th with a 76.
Defending champion Dave Ryan of Taylorville, Ill., was tied for 17th with a 73.
The six-day tournament continues Sunday with the second round of stroke play starting at 7 a.m.
