Gustavus Adolphus was picked to win its 29th consecutive MIAC men's tennis title in the preseason conference coaches poll. The Gusties are led by junior Mohanad Alhouni, the defending Midwest Regional champion in singles, and sophomore Patrick Whaling, the regional runner-up. Carleton was chosen to finish second.

• MIAC Executive Director Dan McKane was presented with the Division III Commissioners Association's Distinguished Service Award for his leadership. He just completed the end of his two-year term as president of the organization.
• Maple Grove senior Alex Miley was named Gatorade's male cross-country runner of the year. He placed fifth in the Class 2A state meet and 15th in the Nike Cross Nationals.
• The Janesville Jets' Cullen Munson, 20, of Edina, was named the NAHL's forward of the month. He had eight goals and five assists in nine games. … The Minnesota Magicians' Jake Acton of Livermore, Calif., was the goalie of the month.
• The Gophers men's gymnastics team competes against Nebraska at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sports Pavilion.
