Times for the Minneapolis Region matches of the NCAA volleyball tournament were announced Sunday, with the second-seeded Gophers scheduled to play 15th-seeded Oregon at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the second of two games at Maturi Pavilion.

Big Ten rival Nebraska, seeded seventh, and No. 10 seed Kentucky will play in the first game at 1 p.m. The winners will play at 5 p.m. Saturday for a berth in the Final Four, Dec. 13 and 15 at Target Center.

The last time the Gophers hosted an NCAA regional was in 2016, and Minnesota advanced to the Final Four with victories over Missouri and UCLA.

Whitecaps suffer sweep

The visiting Boston Pride got goals from seven players, including former Gopher Gigi Marvin, and finished a weekend sweep Sunday with a 7-2 victory over the Minnesota Whitecaps in National Women's Hockey League action.

Marvin opened the scoring at 2:27 of the first period, and Boston put the game away with four unanswered goals after Kate Schipper's breakaway goal had pulled Minnesota to within 3-2 early in the second. Emma Stauber also scored for the Whitecaps.
