The Gophers finished second in the 200-yard medley relay (1 minute, 37.27 seconds) in the Big Ten women's swimming and diving championships on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio.

Relay members were Zoe Avestruz, Rachel Munson, Danielle Nack and Lauren Votava and their time made the NCAA meet cut.

In the only other final on Day 1, the Gophers, who are the four-time defending champions in this meet, placed 10th in the 800 freestyle relay.


• The MIAC men's and women's swimming and diving championships will be held from Thursday to Saturday at the Jean Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota campus. Morning sessions will start at 10:30 a.m. each day, evening sessions at 6:30 p.m. Gustavus has won six women's team titles in a row; St. Thomas is the defending men's champion.

• Augustana (20-2) is first and Minnesota State Moorhead (21-4) second in the Division II Central Regional rankings in men's basketball. … In women's basketball, Winona State (21-2) is fourth in the Central Regional.
