Senior Daly Santana had a career-high 39 kills to lead the Gophers volleyball team to a 23-25, 25-14, 25-20, 26-28, 15-13 victory over Louisville on Friday night at the KYC Yum! Center in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Santana, a 6-1 outside hitter from Puerto Rico who had 93 attempts, came within two kills of the single-match school record of 41, held by Andrea Gonzalez (vs. Michigan State in 1987) and Katrien DeDecker (vs. Illinois in 1995). Santana's previous high was 23 kills.

Her 39 kills tie Santana with Nicole Branagh, who had 40 once, for the fourth most in a match in Gophers' history.

The Cardinals (2-2) still lead the all-time series with the Gophers 4-3, including a five-set win last September at the Sports Pavilion.

The Tapp twins combined for 23 kills for the Gophers (1-2), with Hannah getting 12 and Paige 11. Samantha Seliger-Swenson added a career-best 59 assists and 15 digs; Dalianliz Rosado had a team-best 18 digs.

Minnesota hit .296 for the match, the Cardinals hit .201.
