The Minnesota Orchestra has canceled six concerts that had been scheduled for July 20 through Aug. 3 at Ted Mann Concert Hall in Minneapolis.
The concerts were to feature music originally planned for the regular season, including Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 and Dvorák's New World Symphony, with music director Osmo Vänskä conducting. The cancellations mean that musicians have not played a concert under the official auspices of the Minnesota Orchestra for more than a year. Musicians, who are locked out in a labor dispute, have put on shows themselves during the past 10 months.
Orchestra board chair Jon Campbell said the organization waited as long as it could before announcing the cancellations, hoping that a contract deal might be reached.
