Minnesota books publishing this autumn

This fall's big crop of regional books is particularly heavy in nonfiction and poetry.

"Let Him Go," by Larry Watson. A North Dakota couple set out to bring their grandson home, and come face to face with evil. Fiction. (Milkweed Editions.)

"Leaving Rollingstone," by Kevin Fenton. A memoir about growing up on a small farm outside of Winona in the 1960s and '70s. (Borealis Books.)

"The Nazi and the Psychiatrist," by Jack El-Hai. A nonfiction account of an American psychiatrist tasked with getting inside the Nazi mind. (Public Affairs.)

"Earth's Appetites," by Margaret Hasse. The fourth collection of poetry by a finalist for a Minnesota Book Award.(Nodin Press. Appearing 7 p.m. Sept. 28, the Loft Literary Center, Mpls.)

"O, What a Luxury," by Garrison Keillor. A collection of light verse on love, religion and other facets of daily life. (Oct. 1, Grove Atlantic Press. Appearing 7 p.m. Oct. 1, Common Good Books, St. Paul; 2 p.m. Nov. 3, Barnes & Noble Galleria)

"Ready for Air," by Kate Hopper. A memoir about a difficult pregnancy, a premature baby, and an uncertain road. (University of Minnesota Press. Book launch, 7 p.m. Oct. 3, the Loft Literary Center, Mpls.; 7 p.m. Oct. 23, SubText Bookstore, St. Paul.)

"The Thoughtbook of F. Scott Fitzgerald: A Secret Boyhood Diary," edited by Dave Page. A glimpse into the adolescent mind of one of Minnesota's finest writers. (Minnesota Historical Society Press. "On Stage With Kevin Kling," by Kevin Kling. A behind-the-scenes look at several of Kling's performances, along with full texts. (Nov. 15, Minnesota Historical Society Press.)
