There's nothing like watching a sundown movie together. "Wall-E" screens Aug. 27 at Pearl Park.
Pack the picnic basket and oil up the lawn chair. The Minneapolis Park & Rec Board's third annual Movies in the Parks series presents an outdoor extravaganza of free films. The series will run six nights a week at parks across the city from mid-June through the end of August. This summer's series features a mix of action/adventure films, classics, new releases, comedies and family fare. There is scant programming in Loring Park, left empty by the cancellation of Walker Art Center's longrunning Movies and Music in the Park series. At present, there's only one Loring presentation planned, the Harrison Ford thriller "The Fugitive" on Monday, June 21. More Loring shows may be added in August. Movies are free to the public. Snacks will be for sale, and picnicking is encouraged. The films are screened 15 minutes after sundown. For a chart of local sunset times, click here. The season finale will be a film nominated by viewers through online balloting. For more information, call (612) 230-6484, email arudolph@minneapolisparks.org or visit www.mplsmusicandmovies.com.

Vehicle crashes on Twin Cities outdoor dining patios are a rare occurrence, but the recent tragedy at Park Tavern in St. Louis Park, and another patio crash in Blaine, have cast light on inconsistent regulations and practices at establishments in local cities.
