Minneapolis North's offense is used to high-scoring shootouts but had to grind out a victory Wednesday at Concordia Academy. The Polars (8-0) started slow before surging in the second half to defeat the Beacons 34-0.

"Their defense was decent," Minneapolis North quarterback Armon Dalton said. "In the first half they were kind of shutting us down."

After a scoreless first quarter, Dalton spun past a defender for a 6-yard touchdown run. The Polars found success with outside runs from Eli Campbell and Omar Brown. Inside carries from Kiareion Bellfield and Kehyan Porter gave the offense a strong balance of speed and power.

Bellfield scored the first of his two touchdowns of the night with a 7-yard carry to give Minneapolis North a 14-0 lead heading into halftime. Dalton converted his second touchdown of the night early in the fourth quarter with a 6-yard scoring pass to Tayler Johnson.

Concordia Academy's defense impressed, limiting Minneapolis North's offense. The Polars had scored 42 points or more in every previous game this season and focused on testing their run game in the contest.

"We've been trying to be better each week in the run game," Polars coach Charles Adams said. "We know that Armon can throw the ball, but we wanted to get both of our running backs involved in moving the ball up the field."
