A Twin Cities nightlife landmark, the Gay 90s, is in the final stages of a sale, manager Jim Hanson said Tuesday.

The buyers have not been identified, but Hanson said the present owner, Michael Bloom, told staff that he doesn't expect major changes at the popular gay club. The staff is likely to stay on as well, he said.
For years, rumors have circulated that the downtown club, at the corner of Hennepin Avenue and 4th Street, was being sold or even closed.
One possible change, Hanson said: The new owner might put some money into the club's long-desired renovations. "If someone is going to spend money on the building, then it's definitely a good thing," he said.
