A Minneapolis firefighter was injured after slipping and falling at a house fire Monday morning.

The Minneapolis Fire Department said on Twitter that the firefighter suffered a minor injury from the fall. Firefighters responded to the fire at the two-level apartment building off the 5100 block of Sheridan Avenue N. just before 2 a.m. Monday. No residents were hurt, the department said, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Across Minnesota, the fire risk increases during the holiday season as people do more cooking, use heaters and tend to light more candles. Last year in Minnesota, of 68 deaths in house fires, seven people died in the final 12 days of the year. So far this year, 36 people have died in house fires, the lowest total in nearly a decade.
