There was not much intrigue with the pregame inactives today.

Before arriving in Jacksonville yesterday, the Vikings had already ruled out safety Harrison Smith, center Joe Berger, punt returner Marcus Sherels, outside linebacker Edmond Robinson and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd.

Their other two scratches are quarterback Taylor Heinicke and offensive tackle Rashod Hill as the Vikings look to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Second-year safety Anthony Harris will start in place of Smith. Nick Easton will fill in for Berger at center. And wideouts Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs are again expected to split punt returns with Sherels out again.

The Jaguars are shorthanded, too. They have scratched starting center Brandon Linder, wide receiver Allen Hurns and running back Chris Ivory.

Mike Zimmer has made the trip and will coach from the sidelines wearing special sunglasses. He will have to keep his head on a swivel, though.

It is currently 64 degrees and sunny here at EverBank Field in Jacksonville. The temperatures are supposed to top out at 73 degrees this afternoon.

It is my understanding that it is not warm and sunny back in the Twin Cities. So if you’re done shoveling your walk, check out this story I wrote about middle linebacker Eric Kendricks, who found the strength to forgive his once-absence father after he kicked his addiction to crack cocaine.
