The 2011 Twins season did not go as planned (which is putting it kindly). This offseason heading into 2012 could bring about fairly significant changes, and unless every change is spot-on and plenty of other things fall into place, it's hard to envision the Twins making a quick turnaround back to the top of the AL Central next season. As such, it feels a little like one distinct era of Twins baseball -- 2002 through 2010 -- is over. Those were Ron Gardenhire's first nine years as manager. Minnesota made the playoffs six times. The last five times, they exited quickly in the ALDS. We were heavily invested in these playoffs, helping cover at least one game every season. As such, we've seen a lot -- and have plenty of residual memories over how things went down. In the shower this morning (yeah, too much information, but we're painting a picture of our strange mind), we started thinking about which postseason was the MOST frustrating during that era. We're not sure we can come up with one, so we'll put them all out there for you to bat around:

2002: The Twins stunned Oakland in five games in the ALDS ("Boo-ya!" -- A.J. Pierzynski) and had home field advantage in the ALCS. They even won Game 1. They were in prime position to make a World Series, which we tend to forget. Then the Angels rally monkeyed them in four straight games and it was all over.

2003: The Twins were certainly overmatched against the mighty Yankees, but they won Game 1 in Yankee Stadium and were tied 1-1 through six innings of Game 2. After that, it was all downhill. The Twins never led in Games 3 or 4 at the Metrodome.

2004: Deja vu from 2003, only the Twins not only won Game 1 in Yankee Stadium, they held a lead in extra innings of Game 2. But the Yankees rallied to win, then came back off Juan Rincon in Game 4 to take the series.

2006: After a wild sprint to claim the AL Central (and home-field advantage in a playoff series) on the final day of the regular season, the Twins were unceremoniously swept by Oakland. They never led at any point in any game.

2009: Still emotionally hung over from Game 163, the Twins went to New York again. In Game 2, the Twins led 3-1 in the ninth before Joe Nathan blew the save. In the 11th, we had the Joe Mauer/Phil Cuzzi debacle, followed by a failure to score with the bases loaded and nobody out. The Yankees won in the bottom half and swept the series.

2010: The Twins nabbed home field and finally looked to have a lineup potent enough to challenge the Yankees. The Twins led 3-0 early in Game 1 before losing. They were tied 2-2 through 6 of Game 2 but lost. Game 3 in New York wasn't even close. Another sweep.

Which of those six still haunts you the most?
