Volunteers search Fridley for missing man

Searchers gathered in Fridley on Saturday to look for a Mounds View man who has been missing for nearly two weeks. Henry T. McCabe, 32, was reportedly last seen Sept. 7 at a nightclub in Spring Lake Park, but another account said he was last spotted at a SuperAmerica convenience store in Fridley. On Saturday, the store site was the start of an organized search that began after a morning prayer vigil. Up to 100 people were reported to have turned out, including Louise Karluah, the biological mother of Barway Collins, a boy whose disappearance and death shook the metro earlier this year.

McCabe, also known as Joseph B. Tuku, is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds, according to a flier. McCabe's wife, Kareen, was in California preparing for the family's move there when she got a call from his cellphone early Sept. 7, according to a family spokesman. While on the line, she heard noises that made her fear McCabe was hurt. Anyone with information is asked to call Mounds View police at 763-717-4070 or Fridley police at 763-572-3629.

Hastings finance director, on leave, resigns

The finance director for Hastings has resigned after 15 years of working for the city. Charlene Stark has been on paid administrative leave since late July following a complaint to the City Council, said Melanie Mesko Lee, Hastings' city administrator. Mesko Lee declined to share details of the complaint, citing confidentiality. Stark's resignation will be considered by the council at Monday's meeting, Mesko Lee said. Stark previously worked for the city of Bloomington.
