gophers men's gameday

6:30 p.m. at Indiana • Assembly Hall • BTN, 1500-AM

Minnesota (16-9, 5-7 Big Ten): The Gophers have won three consecutive games and four of the past five after getting out early at Iowa and holding on late for a 64-59 victory Thursday in Iowa City. But Minnesota — which hadn't won a conference game away from Williams Arena this season — still has three of the next four games on the road ahead. Andre Hollins continued his tear vs. Iowa, and he is averaging 21 points and 4.9 rebounds in the past seven. Fellow senior guard DeAndre Mathieu, meanwhile, has been in a scoring slump, making just 12 of 42 (28.6 percent) shots in the past six games, but he has dished out 14 assists to two turnovers in the past five, a 7-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Indiana (17-8, 7-5): Yogi Ferrell missed a pair of last-possession shots as the Hoosiers tried to upset Maryland on the road Wednesday. Instead, the Hoosiers have lost four of six as they plow toward what they hope will be an NCAA tournament berth. Indiana hasn't lost a conference game at home this season. The Hoosiers have the best scoring offense in the Big Ten, averaging 79.2 points per game, but Indiana also has by far the worst scoring defense, allowing 72.4. Indiana is hitting 40.9 percent from three-point range and has seven players averaging 5.4 points or more.
