Reps. Betty McCollum and Tim Walz were scheduled to go to China Thursday on a government-sponsored trip led by Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
McCollum, who represents St. Paul, and Walz, who represents southern Minnesota, will focus on “economic growth, national and cyber security, human rights and the importance of bold action to reduce carbon pollution,” according to Pelosi’s office.
All told, seven Democrats are going on the weeklong trip to Asia, including Reps. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts, Joyce Beatty of Ohio and Alan Lowenthal and Ted Lieu of California. The members will meet with local Chinese government, students and civil society groups, Pelosi’s office said.
