Vikings punt returner Marcus Sherels won’t play versus the Bears tonight.

Sherels, who ranks third in the NFL in punt return average, injured his wrist in last week’s loss to the Eagles. He was not listed as a participant in practice at all this week but was officially questionable to play tonight.

Wide receiver Adam Thielen will likely replace him as the punt returner.

The Vikings will at least have their kickoff returner. Cordarrelle Patterson, who also has touchdown catches in back-to-back games, is active after being cleared through the NFL’s concussion protocol this weekend.

Rookie wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, a Chicago native who is still looking for his first NFL catch, is also active tonight. We’ll see if this is the week the Vikings finally get their first-round pick involved in the offense.

With Patterson and Treadwell up, slot receiver Jarius Wright is inactive.

Also scratched are safety Andrew Sendejo, defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, running back Jerick McKinnon, guard Zac Kerin and tight end MyCole Pruitt.

Matt Asiata and Ronnie Hillman will split time in the backfield with McKinnon sidelined with an ankle injury. McKinnon was ruled out Saturday.

Seventh-round draft pick Jayron Kearse is expected to replace Sendejo, who was officially ruled out on Saturday, at safety next to Harrison Smith.

The Bears are missing some key players tonight, too. Both of their starting guards, Josh Sitton and Kyle Long, are inactive. And the Bears will also be without wide receiver Eddie Royal and defensive tackle Eddie Goldman.
