DULUTH – Police responding to a report of a shooting found a man dead from an apparent gunshot wound early Friday in the Central Hillside neighborhood.
Officers have not yet identified the man, and Duluth police are asking those who live near the 200 block of W. 3rd Street to check their surveillance footage.
Officers were called to the site at 12:25 a.m. and said in a Facebook post that they are in the early stages of the investigation.
Duluth police also found a 47-year-old man with gunshot wounds early Thursday morning when responding to a call about shots fired in the 600 block of N. 3rd Avenue E. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene, according to a Facebook post by the department.
That investigation is also still open.
Friday’s fatal shooting is Duluth’s fifth homicide of the year and third involving guns, according to Duluth Police Chief Mike Ceynowa.
