Authorities have identified a man shot and killed last week in the North Side’s Willard-Hay neighborhood.
Police say that the body of Mark Profit, 18, of Minneapolis, was found about 10:39 p.m. in front of a house on the 1800 block of Newton Avenue N. Profit died from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to authorities.
Police haven’t released any additional details about the slaying. No arrests had been made by Tuesday afternoon.
Another man who was wounded in the shooting was taken to an area hospital with noncritical injuries, police said.
A department spokesman said Tuesday that detectives were “checking on physical evidence at the scene,” without commenting on whether authorities have any substantial leads.
A ShotSpotter activation Friday night drew officers to the area, where they found Profit’s body in front a residence as onlookers gathered around, police said.
The following night, police Chief Janeé Harteau said that the investigation into the slaying had been hampered by uncooperative witnesses.
Profit’s death was the city’s 34th homicide so far this year, surpassing 2014’s total mark.
