Recap: Mahnomen earned its second consecutive Class 1A state title with a victory that punctuated a dominant season. The Indians (14-0) outscored opponents 638-57. They gave up only nine touchdowns all season and posted eight shutouts.

Mahnomen ran its winning streak to 28 games. The Indians' most recent loss came in the 2011 Prep Bowl against Dawson-Boyd.

Jumping ahead 18-0 after the first quarter, Mahnomen ran Dawson-Boyd into submission with 399 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Quarterback Tom Pavek led with 179 rushing yards and scored three times, including once on a reception.

"It feels really good, especially after doing it last year," Mahnomen receiver Kody Lefebvre said.

Key of the game: It's called the Lefebvre Special, a play never before seen in a game situation. But it worked like a charm Saturday. Pavek turned and threw right to Kody Lefebvre, who returned the favor by hitting Pavek in stride for a second-quarter touchdown and a 25-7 lead. Officially, the play covered 44 yards, but Lefebvre's impressive throw traveled almost the width of the field.

Quote: "We practiced it every day. Most of the time it works pretty well. But I thought I underthrew him." — Kody Lefebvre, Mahnomen receiver

One thing to know: Dawson-Boyd cousins quarterback Joey Lee and receiver Michael Lee connected for both of the Blackjacks' touchdowns and set several Prep Bowl records: most pass attempts (52), completions (27) and receptions (12).
