Lookbook: Forget snow pants -- here's the Minne-skirt

Why would anyone wear a skirt out in the snow? When it comes to the locally crafted Minne-skirt, it's easy to count the ways. One, sometimes pants just aren't enough. Two, think of it as a stylish jacket for your behind. And three, it was built for life in Minnesota — an extra layer for hockey games, drafty houses and cold offices. The mother/daughter design team of Rose and Gretchen Heim came up with the idea when they were looking for a more stylish way to stay warm (who wants to wear snowpants?). The skirt is made of a soft polyester outer layer, with a duck down inside. "[We are] northern Minnesota ladies who know cold weather," Gretchen said.
