OMAHA – Miami and Florida have met 241 times on the baseball diamond, but never at the College World Series. That will happen Saturday night when the powerful programs from the Sunshine State square off at TD Ameritrade Park.

The Hurricanes (49-15) are back in Omaha for the 24th time but their last trip was in 2008, making this the longest gap between appearances since their first in 1974. The Gators (46-19) are at the CWS for the ninth time, four times since 2010.

Florida leads their series 127-113-1 and has won 19 of the past 24, including two of three in February in Gainesville.

Sophomore righthander Logan Shore of Coon Rapids will be Florida's starter. He is 9-6 with a 2.50 ERA.

"It is a dream come true, but the dream obviously doesn't stop here," Shore said on Friday. "We are here to a win a national championship, and we have all the pieces of the puzzle to do that. We are looking forward to getting it going [Saturday] night."

Shore will pitch against Miami in front of a lot of familiar faces.

"It will be a lot of fun," he said. "Obviously, my whole family is coming down and a bunch of my high school friends will be here. I got a of texts and Facebook messages and stuff, saying congrats and a lot of support from Minnesota. They will be cheering for us, we have a lot of Gator fans up north."

Shore pitched 5â…” scoreless innings in his last start a 13-5 victory over Florida State on June 5 in a Super Regionals. He has not allowed a run his last 13 innings.

He will try to change one thing against Miami. "[I] will try to stay more relaxed that usual," Shore said. "The adrenaline will get going the first few innings."

"It's a really big advantage for both of us to have seen each other's lineup before," said Gators freshman slugger JJ Schwartz, who has 18 homers.

"We know what to expect. There are going to be no surprises. It's a big rivalry."

Virginia (39-22), the 2014 national runner-up, will play Arkansas (40-23) in the Bracket 1 opener on Saturday.

Bracket 2 games Sunday pit TCU (49-13) against LSU (53-10) in the afternoon and Cal State Fullerton (39-23) against defending national champion Vanderbilt (47-19) at night.
