During Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, a Minnesotan brought her jewelry designs to the action at Lincoln Center.

Northfield resident Susan Crow was invited to display her East Fourth Street jewelry line by the Green Shows, a presentation devoted to eco-friendly and fair-trade fashion.

"I think it's the way of the future," Crow said. "We want to let the world know we can do it differently."

To that end, she relaunched her collection in 2010, aiming for zero waste and better practices. They include using lab-created diamonds and gemstones, reclaimed metals and sulfur from hard-boiled eggs to blacken silver.

Crow, who has nearly three decades of metalsmith experience, said she was honored to be selected for the Green Shows, along with like-minded ethical fashion and accessory brands.

East Fourth Street jewelry is available at Gallery 360, 3011 W. 50th St., Mpls.; 612-925-2400; www.eastfourthstreet.com.
