Concertgoers at the sold-out State Fair grandstand were back in their seats Saturday night after being told to seek shelter from lightning.

Opening act Chance the Rapper was performing about 8 p.m. when the lightning kicked up at the end of his set.

About 15,000 people were in the grandstand for the show featuring Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

After a delay of an hour or so, Talib Kweli went on about 9:15 p.m. for a 30-minute set, and Macklemore took the stage shortly after 10 p.m.

"You guys made it through the rain, the lightning ... and the fried Oreos dipped in grease," he told the crowd.

A fair spokesperson said that there were no complications and that officials periodically reassessed the weather.

A severe thunderstorm watch had been in effect until 9 p.m. The National Weather Service reported hail and 60-plus-mile-per-hour winds as the storm blew in, knocking down some tree limbs.
