This fall, life sciences industry boosters are hosting a Minnesota Bioscience Summit.

The summit will recognize what's happening in Minnesota's bioscience industry and help people understand where to go for expertise in the state, said Dana Boyle, vice president of community engagement for trade association LifeScience Alley.

The Minneapolis event, which takes place on Sept. 20, is presented by LifeScience Alley and the BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota. It is expected to draw more than 300 people, Boyle said.

"It's kind of a rally for the bioscience industry," Boyle said.

The summit will discuss advances in the medical device, biopharmaceutical, animal health, renewable energy and renewable materials industries and look at trends that affect these fields.

The last bioscience summit occurred in 2003 and was organized by former Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
