As if it weren’t bad enough that Minneapolis narrowed Sixth Street to accommodate a new bike lane (and leaving thousands of morning commuters backed up on Interstate 394, wasting gas and harming the environment), the city’s mayor, R.T. Rybak, has now come out against the downtown skyway system ("City’s maze of skyways: A dead end?" Jan. 22).
Are you kidding me?
He said: “I don’t think we need any more skyways, I don’t think they help at all.”
Hello, Mr. Mayor — this is Minnesota, not Mexico City. It was 14 below when I went to work downtown on Thursday.
What difference does it make to you whether people walk on the sidewalks or in a warm skyway in January? R.T., respectfully, please go away, and take your liberal, micromanaging ideas with you.
