Augustin, Pistons pour it on against Heat
AUBURN HILLS, MICH. – D.J. Augustin had 25 points and 13 assists and the Detroit Pistons closed the first quarter on a 25-1 run, going on to beat the Miami Heat 108-91 on Tuesday night. Augustin has averaged 21.8 points and 9.2 assists in five games as Detroit's starting point guard since Brandon Jennings ruptured his Achilles' tendon.
"We're all great players in this league, but it is easier to get going when you know you are going to get a lot of minutes," Augustin said.
Chris Bosh scored 34 points, including 21 in the third quarter, but nobody else provided much help for Miami.
•IT'S POINTLESS: Stephen Curry had 23 points and nine assists, and the Golden State Warriors rode a 23-0 spurt in the first half to beat the host Sacramento Kings 121-96. The Warriors shut out Sacramento for more than seven minutes at the end of the first quarter and start of the second.
•LILLARD LEADS: Damian Lillard scored 25 points and the host Portland Trail Blazers, boosted by the return of center Robin Lopez, held off the Utah Jazz 103-102.
•CELTICS STOP SKID: Avery Bradley scored 26 points, Jared Sullinger added 22 and the Celtics stopped a three-game losing streak with a 108-97 victory over the Knicks.
