By adding something unique to the South Metro’s already thriving entertainment scene, a new golf and social venue in Prior Lake is bringing tourism, jobs and economic growth to the region.
In early October, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) officially opened LaunchPad Golf The Meadows, a state-of the-art golf entertainment venue next to Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake. The new enterprise pairs perfectly with the tribe’s award-winning public golf course – The Meadows at Mystic Lake – to create a year-round golf entertainment haven, catering to the region’s desire and passion for options outside the traditional golf season and experience. Full of cutting-edge technology, the new destination is perfect for all ages and abilities, offering an entertaining experience whether you’re coming to enjoy a great meal – no golfing required – or hosting a corporate event, social gathering or private party.
For the SMSC, LaunchPad Golf isn’t just a new attraction, it’s a strategic investment in the region’s economic future. The facility marks the first U.S. location for the Canada-based LaunchPad brand and builds on the SMSC’s growing portfolio of enterprises that drive local employment and tourism. The opening of LaunchPad Golf adds another anchor to a thriving entertainment cluster: Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, The Meadows at Mystic Lake golf course, and the Dakotah! Sport and Fitness complex. Together, these destinations draw millions of visitors to Prior Lake each year, boosting the south metro’s profile as an entertainment destination.
“We’re excited to expand beyond The Meadows at Mystic Lake golf course and welcome golfers of all abilities to enjoy year-round, top-of-the-line entertainment at LaunchPad Golf The Meadows,” said SMSC Chairman Cole W. Miller. “Building on our legacy of creating premier golf destinations, the grand opening of this unique venue is exciting not just for our tribe, but for the region – another example of how the SMSC continues to bring diverse business opportunities and economic growth to Scott County and Minnesota.”
LaunchPad Golf’s 25,000-square-foot facility offers more than fun; it provides new jobs and workforce opportunities. The two-story venue includes 40 heated golf suites overlooking a 160,000-square-foot range powered by Inrange radar technology, along with two bars, a full-service restaurant and event spaces. Over 100 full- and part-time positions have been created to staff the kitchen, bar, guest services and operations team, supporting the local economy while offering pathways to hospitality and management careers.
The project reflects the tribe’s long-term vision of sustainable economic development, creating enterprises that not only generate revenue, but also offer employment and reinvestment for future generations.
“This venue adds something fresh and exciting to what Prior Lake already offers, and we see it as a key part of growing our region as a destination for fun, connection and innovation,” said SMSC Economic Development Administrator Thad Hellman. LaunchPad’s year-round operation also helps balance the region’s seasonal tourism flow, ensuring consistent economic activity even in winter months.
As one of the largest employers in Scott County, the SMSC’s ventures have ripple effects far beyond Prior Lake. The opening of LaunchPad Golf signals continued confidence in the south metro’s potential as a destination for recreation, hospitality and entertainment. For residents, it means more job options close to home and an expanding list of attractions that keep spending within the community.
