Additional very impressive amounts of rain and snow will fall in California andArizona Wednesday night and Thursday. The result will be flooding and mudslidesin Southern California, and snowclogged roads over the mountain passes. Traveldelays by road or by air are a certainty for the next 24 to 36 hours. When all the rainfall is tallied at the end of this week, amounts could reachor exceed a foot along the west- and south-facing mountain slopes. Parts of thedeserts, including Palm Springs and Phoenix, will receive at least half oftheir normal annual rainfall.
A yardstick will not be enough to measure this week's snowfall totals in theCalifornia mountains. What do you say to 6 or 8 feet above the 8,000-footlevel?! Furthermore, the high country of Arizona and southern Utah will besubjected to bursts of snow Thursday and Thursday night with more than a footexpected by Friday.
