Much of Florida has been enjoying unusual warmth over the past day, and this will be the case again Tuesday, especially over central and South Florida.

Afternoon temperatures will climb into the 80s across the region with some new record high temperatures possible.

Farther north, however, the weather will turn foul on Tuesday, as much cooler air coming from the north clashes with the warm air to the south. This will lead to a large area of rain and thunderstorms along the Gulf Coast and up through the eastern Carolinas.

Even though severe thunderstorms are not anticipated, heavier downpours could lead to some minor flooding across the region as the ground is still fairly saturated from an abnormally wet autumn.
