KSTP, Channel 5, was honored for outstanding investigative reporting at Monday night's News & Documentary Emmy Awards in New York. It tied with KHOU in Houston.
KSTP's award was for "Prisoners Ride the Bus," a piece by investigative reporter Bob McNaney, left, dealing with how the federal government is using bus companies to transport unescorted prisoners. Producer Mike Maybay and assistant news director Sam Zeff also worked on the piece.
McNaney, who attended the awards presentation, called the win "absolutely the professional highlight of my career." The big winner Monday night was CBS News, which took seven Emmys. NBC was right behind with six.
