Updated with practice lines:
Morning from the X.
Captain Mikko Koivu will at least miss Saturday’s game against the Islanders, GM Chuck Fletcher told me this morning, with a leg injury. He hopes he's back before Christmas, meaning he could miss the road trip.
Coach Mike Yeo will update Koivu and the rest of the injuries after this morning’s practice.
Koivu is obviously not on the ice.
Casey Wellman (wrist) is practicing, although not looking comfortable shooting the puck. Wrist is bruised.
Colton Gillies (lacerated leg) is practicing.
No Devin Setoguchi (knee), nor obviously Guillaume Latendresse (concussion), nor Pierre-Marc Bouchard (nose, facial soreness). Justin Falk (upper body) is practicing.
The Wild hasn’t called anybody up yet. If Wellman plays, they only need one. Looks like Bouchard will be out.
Also, I have confirmed blog reports out of Boston that Charlie Coyle is leaving Boston University and will play for Saint John of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The Wild would have been willing to sign him and place him in Houston, but Coyle's made the decision to play junior. The Wild still owns his rights for two more years and will likely sign him before next season.
Lines in practice
Clutterbuck-Cullen-Heatley
Powe-Brodziak-Johnson
Wellman-Almond-Staubitz/Gillies
Peters-Gillies/Staubitz
By these lines, my guess is they call up a guy like Jed Ortmeyer, but we'll see.
