Kicker Emmit Carpenter named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week

The Gophers kicker hit all four of his field goal attempts at Penn State and is 9-for-9 on the season.

Gophers kicker Emmit Carpenter was named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday after making all four of his field goal attempts at Penn State.

Carpenter hit from 37 yards to give the Gophers a three-point lead with less than one minute remaining in regulation and a 46-yarder on the first possession of overtime.

He is 9-for-9 on the season, with five of those kicks going at least 40 yards.

Maryland game time set

The Gophers game at Maryland on Oct. 15 will start at 11 a.m. (Central), and will be televised on either ABC, ESPN2 or ESPNU.

Starting with this week's game against Iowa, the Gophers will play at least four consecutive games in that 11 a.m. time slot, including the Oct. 22 homecoming game with Rutgers and Oct. 29 at Illinois.
