Those who remember Kevin Garnett as the youngster coming right out of high school to the Timberwolves have to blink sometimes now that he's almost 36 years old and one of the old men of the NBA.

The local take on KG's return to Target Center on Friday are the natural comparisons to the current Kevin (Love) and trying to figure out just what we meant in his swipe at the Wolves through the oft-repeated tweet from the Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett.

KG on Minn: "It's always special to come back to true fans ... But as far as that franchise, I have nothing positive to say."

Of course, until a few games into this season, Wolves fans generally had gone through a several-year period in which they had nothing positive to say about the franchise.

So, whatever is still eating at KG doesn't make him much different than many of you, right?

Garnett's numbers have slipped during his Boston years, in part because of some health issues and in part because he hasn't needed to be The Man because of the team's other All-Star talents.

However, Garnett has been in top form lately. He's had 20 or more points 14 times this season -- including six of Boston's last 10 games.

In his story previewing tonight's game, Bulpett wrote about Garnett's increased involvement in the Celtics' offense. Coach Doc Rivers said: "It makes us smarter. Kevin's been amazing. I was joking, but it's true. If you had an All-Star vote at the center spot in the league right now, he'd be right up there since the (All-Star) break."

Here's the rest of Bulpett's story.

It'll be interesting to see how KG will be greeted by Wolves fans. Will he get the Jim Thome love-him-up treatment? or is KG the new A.J. Pierzynski?
